Fort Jesus & Mombasa Old Town

Fort Jesus was built by the Portuguese in the 1590s and has changed hands more times than most buildings anywhere. We walk its battlements and the small museum inside, then wander Old Town's narrow streets past carved doors and Omani-style houses, ending at Mackinnon Market and the carvers' workshops nearby.
