Aberdare National Park
A highland park of rainforest, bamboo and open moorland climbing from 2,000 to nearly 4,000 metres, best known for tree-lodges that let you watch elephant and rhino come to a floodlit waterhole after dark, and for some of Kenya's most dramatic waterfalls.
Highlights
- Tree lodges (The Ark, Treetops) overlooking a floodlit waterhole — game viewing continues all night
- Karuru Falls, one of Kenya's tallest at around 273 metres, plus the smaller Chania Falls
- Mountain bongo, black rhino, giant forest hog and colobus monkeys in dense highland forest
- High-altitude moorland near Ol Doinyo Lesatima, a different Kenya to the savannah parks
